Correct path

CVASC or embassy?

Most Swedish visa applications for China go via CVASC (Chinese Visa Application Service Center) in Stockholm. Certain cases, such as journalist visas or special circumstances, are handled directly by the Chinese Embassy. We know which path applies to your visa type.

Overview

How it works for China

Swedish citizens always need a visa to travel to China. China is known for its detail-sensitive visa process where the smallest error leads to refusal. The photo must be exactly 33 × 48 mm with a specific background, the form must be filled in without errors and the invitation must have the correct format. VIZA starts from what CVASC or the Chinese Embassy in Stockholm actually requires for your specific visa type. Then we review photo, form and invitation before submission. Common cases are tourist trips to Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, business meetings, studies and work.

  3. 3 We prepare submission

We book an appointment at CVASC or the embassy and prepare all documents according to their checklist.

  4. 4 Submission at CVASC or embassy

We submit your application in person. You avoid queuing and risking incorrect submission.

The passport comes back with tracked post. We follow up until the visa is ready and notify you of any changes.

Important

No power of attorney needed for China

Unlike Russia, China does not require a legalised power of attorney for us to submit your application. CVASC accepts that we act as your representative with your signature on the form. This makes the process simpler but no less detail-sensitive.

Translation, timing and embassy

Is Chinese translation needed?

For the visa application, translation of Swedish documents is normally not required. The application form is filled in English. The invitation from the Chinese company should be in Chinese or English. If you have Swedish documents to be used in China after entry (e.g. for work or studies), authorized translation may be needed separately.

Timeline for a China visa

Chinese authorities always determine the final processing time. Standard usually takes 4 to 6 business days from submission at CVASC. VIP means we prioritise your application with us and submit faster, but the Chinese embassy cannot guarantee shorter processing. The total is affected by:

  • whether the photo has exactly the right format (33 × 48 mm, white background)
  • whether the form is correctly filled in without errors
  • whether the invitation has the correct format and stamp
  • queue at CVASC in Stockholm
  • whether the application is supplemented by CVASC or the embassy
  • post for passport and return
