What you need for an India visa
The basic requirements that apply to most visa types.
General requirements
For a standard tourist visa or business visa you need a valid passport, passport photo, completed application form and supporting documents. The physical passport must be submitted to the Indian Embassy in Stockholm for stamp visas.
For an e-tourist visa or e-business visa the application is made entirely online. You do not need to submit your physical passport. You need a digital copy of the passport, a digital photo and the relevant supporting documents.

What e-visa types are available for India?
India offers three types of e-visa: e-tourist visa, e-business visa and e-medical visa. The e-tourist visa is available in several variants:
- 30 days – stay of up to 30 days from the date of entry, two entries
- 1 year – multiple entries, up to 90 days per entry, valid for 1 year
- 5 years – multiple entries, up to 90 days per entry, valid for 5 years
The e-business visa is valid for 1 year with multiple entries, up to 180 days per entry.
How many days can I stay per entry?
The e-tourist visa (30 days) allows a stay of up to 30 days from the date of entry with two entries.
The e-tourist visa (1 year and 5 years) allows up to 90 days per entry, with multiple entries. The total stay cannot exceed 180 days per year.
The standard tourist visa allows a longer stay depending on the type of visa issued. Contact us if you need a stay of more than 90 days.
Through which airports can I enter India with an e-visa?
The e-visa is accepted at 28 airports across India. The most important ones are:

What passport and photo requirements apply?
Passport: Must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry and have at least two blank pages.
Passport photo:
- JPEG format
- Minimum 350x350 pixels
- Plain white background
- Taken within the last 6 months
- Glasses not allowed
- File size: 10 KB to 1 MB
Incorrect photos are a common reason for rejection. We check all photos before submitting.
Can I extend an Indian visa?
e-Visas cannot normally be extended. If you need to stay longer than permitted you can:
- Apply for a new e-visa before the current one expires
- Contact the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in India for an extension
- Apply for a standard tourist visa instead
Standard tourist visas may in some cases be extended through the FRRO. Contact us if you need advice about your specific situation.
How long does the processing take?
Processing time depends on the service level you choose:
- Standard: 2 to 3 business days
- VIP: 1 to 2 business days
