Correct path

E-visa or embassy visa?

Most Swedes choose an e-visa for India. It is simpler, cheaper and valid for tourism, business and medical purposes. An embassy visa is needed for studies, work or longer stays. E-visas cannot be extended or converted in India.

Overview

How it works for India

Swedish citizens always need a visa to travel to India. The e-visa is the most common choice for tourism and shorter business trips. It comes in three validities: 30 days, 1 year or 5 years, all with multiple entries but limited stay per entry. For studies, work or longer stays an embassy visa is required. Indian authorities are strict about photo format (50 × 50 mm, white background) and passport validity (at least 6 months). VIZA reviews everything before submission to minimise the risk of refusal.
