Embassy legalisation

The UAE does not accept an apostille. For Swedish papers to be valid with authorities, free zones, employers and banks in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, we run the chain via Notary Public when required, the Swedish MFA and the UAE Embassy in Stockholm.

When is embassy legalisation for the UAE needed?

When Swedish documents must be used officially in the United Arab Emirates, full embassy legalisation is normally required. That covers work and residency, family visas, free zones, banking and company setup in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the other emirates. Without the correct chain, originals are often stopped at the first review.

Who orders legalisation for the UAE?

People taking contracts in tech, finance, healthcare or construction, families reuniting, expatriates who need criminal record certificates, and Swedish companies submitting registry extracts, powers of attorney or agreements to a free zone, bank or counterpart in the UAE.

We drive the case through the Swedish MFA and submit at the UAE Embassy in Stockholm. The embassy fee is specified before submission.

FAQ about UAE legalisation

Does the UAE accept an apostille?
No in practice. The UAE sits outside the Hague Convention. Recipients in Dubai and Abu Dhabi require embassy legalisation via MFA and the UAE Embassy.
How are the steps ordered?
Private documents are notarised first, then MFA and embassy. Arabic translation can run before or in parallel depending on the recipient requirement.
What is the embassy fee?
It varies by document according to the embassy tariff. We specify the amount before we submit so you are not surprised.
Is an English translation enough?
Sometimes with international companies and free zones. Authorities and residency cases more often want Arabic. We offer authorized Swedish to Arabic translation from SEK 1,495.
How long does it take?
Basic usually takes 8 to 15 business days depending on MFA and embassy queue. Priority and VIP shorten our coordination where possible.
Can you order Swedish extracts for me?
Yes. We often help obtain personal records, criminal record certificates and company extracts before legalisation.
Can companies use the service?
Yes. We legalise company extracts, powers of attorney, agreements, free zone papers and other trade documents for the UAE.
What is included from SEK 2,495?
Our handling of the embassy legalisation chain in Basic, Priority or VIP. Notarisation, translation and the embassy fee are added when needed and specified in advance.
