General information about Vietnam visas

Swedish citizens can travel to Vietnam without a visa for up to 45 days with an ordinary passport. This visa exemption applies for single entry. If you plan a longer stay (up to 90 days) or need to enter and exit multiple times, you need an e-visa.

Vietnam's e-visa (electronic visa) was launched in 2017 and expanded in August 2023 to cover all nationalities. The e-visa is applied for online and is available as single entry or multiple entry, with a validity of up to 90 days.

The e-visa is accepted at all international airports in Vietnam, including Noi Bai (Hanoi), Tan Son Nhat (Ho Chi Minh City), Da Nang and Cam Ranh (Nha Trang), as well as at most land border crossings.

We help you step by step: you order, send your details and we review everything before the application is submitted to the Vietnamese authorities. Have questions? Contact us or read our FAQ.

Frequently asked questions about Vietnam visas

Do I need a visa for Vietnam?

Swedish citizens can travel to Vietnam visa-free for up to 45 days with an ordinary passport. This visa exemption applies for single entry.

If you plan to stay longer than 45 days, need multiple entries or don't have an ordinary passport, you need to apply for an e-visa (electronic visa) before departure.

📍 More information: Contact us for personal advice if you're unsure about what applies to your trip.

What is an e-visa and how long is it valid?

Vietnam's e-visa (electronic visa) is a digital travel authorisation that you apply for online. It was launched in 2017 and expanded in August 2023 to cover all nationalities.

The e-visa is valid for up to 90 days and is available as single entry (one entry) or multiple entry (several entries). You can use it for tourism, visits and business trips.

The e-visa is accepted at all international airports, most land border crossings and seaports in Vietnam.

How long does it take to get an e-visa?

With our Standard service, you receive your e-visa within 3-5 business days. With VIP service, it takes just 24 hours.

We recommend applying for your e-visa at least 1 week before departure to allow plenty of time. We carefully review your application before submission to minimise the risk of rejection.

What documents are needed for an e-visa?

To apply for an e-visa for Vietnam, you need:

  • Passport copy: Valid for at least 6 months after planned arrival
  • Digital passport photo: 4x6 cm, white background, taken within the last 6 months
  • Flight booking: Confirmation of round-trip flights
  • Accommodation details: Hotel booking or address in Vietnam

We guide you through exactly which documents are needed in our easy ordering process.

Can I extend my e-visa in Vietnam?

In some cases, e-visas can be extended locally in Vietnam through a travel agency or the immigration authority. However, the easiest option is to apply for a new e-visa with multiple entry before your current one expires.

If you know you need to stay longer, we recommend applying directly for a 90-day e-visa with multiple entry. Contact us for help.

At which airports can I use the e-visa?

The e-visa for Vietnam is accepted at all international airports:

  • Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi)
  • Tan Son Nhat International Airport (Ho Chi Minh City)
  • Da Nang International Airport (Da Nang)
  • Cam Ranh International Airport (Nha Trang)
  • Phu Bai International Airport (Hue)
  • Cat Bi International Airport (Hai Phong)
