Overview
How it works for Brazil
CPF is the number Receita Federal puts on the person. CNPJ is the company’s, usually via the state Junta Comercial. A certidão de nascimento does not come from there. A cartório is a privately run public function that CNJ authorises, not a municipal counter. A foreign degree is revalidated against a public university through the Carolina Bori platform; there is no national ENIC office that takes the file. Property goes to a cartório de imóveis, insurance to INSS. Swedish originals are apostilled by Notarius Publicus. Brazilian originals get apostila de Haia at a CNJ-authorised cartório. The embassy in Stockholm authenticates copies of Brazilian papers, not Swedish ones. Portuguese on the form comes from Kammarkollegiet; some cartórios later want tradução juramentada done in Brazil. CRNM is the residence card, not the stamp on the document.
