Correct path

The right path for Israel

Misrad Hapnim, Tabu and Bituach Leumi in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem or Haifa want proof the Swedish original is genuine. Apostille is issued by Notarius Publicus in Sweden. Forms are in Hebrew. The embassy in Stockholm handles passports and consular work, not apostille.

Overview

How it works for Israel

Israeli authorities think in the teudat zehut and the Population and Immigration Authority: Misrad Hapnim and PIBA for civil status, Bituach Leumi for social insurance, the Tax Authority for tax, the Ministry of Education and bagrut for school, Tabu for property, the Registrar of Companies for companies. Marriage usually goes through the rabbinate. Forms are in Hebrew square script; Arabic, Yiddish and transliteration rarely suffice on originals. We apostille Swedish originals via Notarius Publicus and translate with Kammarkollegiet-authorized Hebrew. A document issued in Israel is apostilled there.il. This is the document chain, not Aliyah and not a B1 visa.

When needed

Typical situations in Israel

The contact usually comes from Misrad Hapnim, Tabu, Bituach Leumi, the Ministry of Education or a notary – not from the embassy at Strandvägen 58:

  • Birth or marriage certificate must enter PIBA after a move to Tel Aviv
  • Teudat zehut and papers for Bituach Leumi
  • Assessment of a Swedish degree against bagrut via the Ministry of Education
  • Flat purchase – extracts for Tabu in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem
  • Company papers for the Registrar of Companies in Haifa
  • Yippui koach for an agent before a notary in Beersheba

How a Swedish original reaches Israel

The usual chain from review to return. Collapse a step if you want less.

  1. 1 Find out who the recipient is

Misrad Hapnim, Tabu, Bituach Leumi or the Ministry of Education sends a checklist. The embassy at Strandvägen 58 is rarely on it. Aliyah is not on that list.

  2. 2 Order the right Swedish original

Skatteverket, a court or a school issues the document. Copies rarely suffice for Tabu or a purchase toward the Registrar of Companies.

  3. 3 Translate into Hebrew if needed

Misrad Hapnim and most Tabu offices want authorized Hebrew in square script. Kammarkollegiet.

  4. 4 Notarise a yippui koach before apostille

If a notary in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem is to act for you, the power of attorney must be attested by Notarius Publicus in Sweden first.

  5. 5 Apostille and tracked return

Notarius Publicus adds the apostille. You get the original (and the translation) back, ready for filing in Israel.il, which only covers Israeli originals.

Important

FAQ

Can the embassy at Strandvägen 58 apostille for me?
No. They help Israeli citizens with passports and consular work. Apostille on Swedish originals is done by Notarius Publicus in Sweden.
Do I need Arabic or Yiddish instead of Hebrew?
No. Hebrew, Arabic and Yiddish are separate Kammarkollegiet authorizations. Misrad Hapnim and Tabu want Hebrew in square script, not transliteration.
I already have an apostille – is English enough for Misrad Hapnim?
Sometimes in the e-queue, rarely on the original. Tabu and Bituach Leumi read Hebrew. Apostille proves authenticity; translation makes the content readable. Aliyah is not the step.
