Correct path

The right path for Mongolia

GASR, tax and MES in Ulaanbaatar, Darkhan or Erdenet want proof the Swedish original is genuine. Apostille is issued by Notarius Publicus in Sweden. Forms are in Mongolian in Cyrillic. An e-visa is entry, not a stamp on the document. The embassy handles passports and consular work, not apostille.

Overview

How it works for Mongolia

GASR (the General Authority for State Registration / UBEG) takes civil status, property and companies. The General Department of Taxation wants tax papers. MES compares a Swedish degree. Forms are in Mongolian in Cyrillic; Russian and the traditional vertical script are other tracks. Because Mongolia is in the Hague Convention, apostille via Notarius Publicus is enough. Typical cases are a registration number at GASR, a flat in Ulaanbaatar, a company at GASR and a degree at MES. Documents issued in Mongolia are apostilled there via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, not here. An e-visa is entry, not a document stamp.

When needed

When do Mongolian recipients want apostille?

The request comes from GASR, tax, MES or a notary. Typical situations:

  • Birth or marriage certificate must enter GASR after a move to Ulaanbaatar
  • Tax papers toward the General Department of Taxation
  • Recognition of a Swedish degree via MES, not a loose copy
  • Flat purchase – extracts for GASR in Darkhan or Erdenet
  • Company papers for GASR in Ulaanbaatar
  • Itgemjlel for an agent before a notary in Ulaanbaatar

How a Swedish original reaches Mongolia

The usual chain from review to return. Collapse a step if you want less.

  1. 1 Find out who the recipient is

GASR, tax or MES sends a checklist. Ask us if you are unsure what is required.

  2. 2 Order the right Swedish original

Skatteverket, a court or a school issues the document. Copies rarely suffice for MES or a purchase toward GASR.

  3. 3 Translate into Mongolian if needed

GASR and most MES files want authorized Mongolian in Cyrillic. Kammarkollegiet.

  4. 4 Notarise an itgemjlel before apostille

If a notary in Ulaanbaatar is to act for you, the power of attorney must be attested by Notarius Publicus in Sweden first.

  5. 5 Apostille and tracked return

Notarius Publicus adds the apostille. You get the original (and the translation) back, ready for filing in Mongolia.

Translation, timing and embassy

Why Mongolian is usually needed

GASR and MES rarely accept unprocessed Swedish. Authorized Mongolian from a Kammarkollegiet translator is its own step, not Russian. From SEK 1,495 for a standard document. Translation plus apostille from SEK 1,895.

Timeline for GASR, tax or MES

Apostille usually takes a few business days. Add time for Mongolian and any notarisation. The total depends on:

  • whether the itgemjlel must be notarised first
  • whether authorized Mongolian must run in parallel
  • processing at Notarius Publicus
  • the MES queue toward a degree

FAQ

Can the embassy in Sweden apostille for me?
No. Mongolia takes apostille via Notarius Publicus in Sweden. The embassy handles passports and consular work, not that stamp for GASR or MES.
Do I need Russian instead of Mongolian?
No. Those are separate Kammarkollegiet authorizations. GASR and MES want Mongolian in Cyrillic, not Russian and not the traditional vertical script.
Is an e-visa enough as a document stamp?
No. An e-visa is entry. GASR, tax and MES want apostille on the document. We do not sell a Mongolia visa here.
