Correct path

The right path for the Philippines

PSA, CHED and BIR in Manila, Cebu or Davao want proof the Swedish original is genuine. Apostille is issued by Notarius Publicus in Sweden. English is often enough, but Filipino is required when the form says so. The embassy in Stockholm handles passports and consular work, not apostille.

Overview

How it works for Philippines

Philippine authorities think in PSA (not the old NSO): birth and marriage certificates, CENOMAR against the LCR, BIR and TIN for tax, CHED CAV for university degrees, TESDA for vocational papers, LRA and the Registry of Deeds when buying, SEC for companies. Forms are in Tagalog or Philippine English; Cebuano and unprocessed Swedish rarely suffice on originals. We apostille Swedish originals via Notarius Publicus and translate with Kammarkollegiet-authorized Tagalog. A document issued in the Philippines is apostilled there, via DFA and apostille.gov.ph. This is the document chain, not eTravel and not a 9(a) visa.

When needed

Typical situations in the Philippines

The contact usually comes from PSA, CHED, BIR, LRA or a notary public – not from the embassy at Grenstigen 2A:

  • Birth or marriage certificate must enter PSA after a move to Manila
  • TIN and tax papers to BIR
  • Recognition of a Swedish degree via CHED CAV
  • Flat purchase – extracts for LRA and the Registry of Deeds
  • SEC or company papers for a counterparty in Cebu
  • SPA for an agent before a notary public in Quezon City or Davao

How a Swedish original reaches the Philippines

The usual chain from review to return. Collapse a step if you want less.

  1. 1 Find out who the recipient is

PSA, CHED, BIR or LRA sends a checklist. The embassy at Grenstigen 2A is rarely on it. eTravel is not on that list.

  2. 2 Order the right Swedish original

Skatteverket, a court or a school issues the paper. Copies rarely suffice for CHED CAV or a purchase against LRA.

  3. 3 Translate into Tagalog if needed

PSA and most LCRs want authorized Tagalog. Kammarkollegiet.

  4. 4 Notarise an SPA before apostille

If a notary public in Quezon City or Davao is to act for you, the power of attorney must be attested by Notarius Publicus in Sweden first.

  5. 5 Apostille and tracked return

Notarius Publicus adds the apostille. You get the original (and translation) back, ready for submission in the Philippines.

Important

Apostille via Notarius Publicus

The Philippines accepts Hague apostille on Swedish originals. Basic from SEK 1,595 per document. Embassy legalisation via the MFA is not required for PSA, CHED or BIR.

Authorized Tagalog

Kammarkollegiet-approved translation from SEK 1,495. CHED often requires both apostille and Tagalog in the same case.

How long does it take?

Apostille in Basic often takes 3–5 business days once the original is in. Add time for:

  • ordering a Swedish original from Skatteverket or a school
  • authorized Tagalog on longer grade records
  • notarisation of an SPA before apostille
  • several documents in the same CHED case

FAQ

Can the embassy at Grenstigen 2A apostille for me?
No. They help Philippine citizens with passports and consular work. Apostille on Swedish originals is done by Notarius Publicus in Sweden. The Ukrainian and Iranian embassies are also in Lidingö.
Do I need Cebuano or English instead of Tagalog?
No for most forms. Tagalog (Filipino) is the Kammarkollegiet language. Cebuano is a different language. English sometimes works for CHED, rarely on PSA originals.
I already have an apostille – is English enough for PSAHelpline?
Sometimes in the e-service, rarely on the original. PSA, LCR and many BIR offices read Tagalog. Apostille proves authenticity; translation makes the content readable. eTravel is not the step.
