The Czech Republic is a Hague country. For Swedish originals, Notarius Publicus is enough. Villagatan 22 handles passports, consular work and Czech POINT advice – not apostille for matrika or MSMT.

How it works for Czech Republic

Czech authorities think in registers: matrika for population records, Finanční úřad for tax and rodné číslo, MSMT for nostrification of foreign degrees, katastr nemovitostí when buying a flat in Prague 2 or Brno-střed. Forms are in Czech; English is rarely accepted. We apostille Swedish originals via Notarius Publicus and translate with Kammarkollegiet-authorized Czech – separate from Slovak. A document issued in the Czech Republic is apostilled there via a krajský soud, not by us. This is the document chain, not a visa or residence permit.

How a Swedish original reaches the Czech Republic

The usual chain from review to return. Collapse a step if you want less.

1 Find out who the recipient is

Matrika, Finanční úřad, MSMT or the land registry sends a checklist. The embassy on Villagatan is rarely on it – ask us if you are unsure.
2 Order the right Swedish original

Skatteverket, a court or a school issues the paper. Copies rarely suffice for nostrification or a property purchase.
3 Translate into Czech if needed

MSMT and most úřad obce want authorized Czech. Kammarkollegiet – not Slovak or an informal translation.
4 Notarise powers of attorney before apostille

If a notář in Prague or Ostrava is to act for you, the power of attorney must be attested by Notarius Publicus in Sweden first.
5 Apostille and tracked return

Notarius Publicus adds the apostille. You get the original (and translation) back, ready for submission in the Czech Republic.

The Czech Republic accepts Hague apostille on Swedish originals. Basic from SEK 850 per document. Embassy legalisation via the MFA is not required for matrika, MSMT or Finanční úřad.

How long does it take?

Apostille in Basic often takes 3–5 business days once the original is in. Add time for:

authorized Czech on longer grade records
notarisation of a power of attorney before apostille
several documents in the same nostrification case

No. They help Czech citizens with passports and Czech POINT. Apostille on Swedish originals is done by Notarius Publicus in Sweden.

Do I need Slovak instead of Czech?

No. Slovak and Czech are separate Kammarkollegiet authorizations. MSMT and matrika want Czech.

I already have an apostille – is English enough?

Rarely. Finanční úřad and MSMT read Czech. Apostille proves authenticity; translation makes the content readable.
