How it works for France

Swedish personal records, marriage certificates, diplomas and company extracts are used widely in France, but the recipient wants proof they are authentic. Because France is in the Hague Convention, an apostille via Notarius Publicus is enough. No stamp from the French embassy is needed for ordinary legalisation. Why French is usually needed

Mairie offices, French notaires and many authorities rarely accept English alone. Authorized French translation is therefore a separate step, even when apostille already covers legalisation.
