When is notarisation needed for China?

Swedish public certificates such as personal records can sometimes go straight to the MFA. Private documents, especially powers of attorney, parental consents and private agreements, must be certified by a Notary Public before they can be legalised further. Chinese banks, authorities and notary offices are strict about documented signature authenticity from the very first step.

Who orders?

People handling property deals, inheritance or company matters in China remotely, or granting a power of attorney to a Chinese agent. Companies certifying signing authority for Chinese counterparties, banks or authorities.

How it works

1

Tell us what the power of attorney covers

We say if the text needs adjusting for Chinese practice and whether translation plus legalisation belong in the chain.

2

Notarisation

A Notary Public certifies the signature or copy as required.

3

MFA, embassy and Chinese

If needed we add legalisation via the MFA and the Chinese Embassy plus authorized Chinese translation in the same case.

FAQ | notarisation for China

Is Swedish notarisation enough for a Chinese bank?
Almost never on its own. Chinese banks and authorities want the notarised document legalised via the MFA and the Chinese Embassy, and often an authorized Chinese translation.
Can you help with the power of attorney wording?
Yes. We help you get a document that can be notarised and used in China. We do not give legal advice on the substance, but we handle stamps and language.
Do I need to appear in person in Sweden?
Some signatures require personal attendance at a Notary Public. Other cases work by post. We guide you before you book.
What happens after notarisation?
The document moves on to the Swedish MFA for legalisation, then to the Chinese Embassy in Stockholm for the final stamp. We coordinate the entire chain.
