Correct path

The right path for North Macedonia

Overview

How it works for North Macedonia

UVMK (civil registry), UJP (tax) and the cadastre want proof the Swedish original is genuine. Because North Macedonia is in the Hague Convention, apostille via Notarius Publicus is enough. Forms are in Macedonian in Cyrillic; Bulgarian, Serbian and Albanian are separate Kammarkollegiet languages. Typical cases are EMBG and civil status at UVMK, a TIN at UJP, a flat at the cadastre, a company at the Central Registry, or a degree at the education ministry. Documents issued in North Macedonia are apostilled there, not here.

When needed

When do North Macedonian recipients want apostille?

The request comes from UVMK, UJP, cadastre or the Central Registry. Typical situations:

  • Birth or marriage certificate must enter UVMK after a move to Skopje
  • TIN papers toward UJP and ujp.gov.mk
  • Recognition of a Swedish degree via MON and ENIC, not a loose copy
  • Flat purchase – extracts for cadastre in Bitola or Ohrid
  • Company papers for the Central Registry in Skopje
  • Polnomošno for an agent before a notary in Tetovo

How a Swedish original reaches North Macedonia

The usual chain from review to return. Collapse a step if you want less.

  1. 1 Find out who the recipient is

UVMK, UJP, cadastre or the Central Registry sends a checklist. Ask us if you are unsure what is required.

  2. 2 Order the right Swedish original

Skatteverket, a court or a school issues the document. Copies rarely suffice for ENIC or a purchase toward cadastre.

  3. 3 Translate into Macedonian if needed

UVMK and most MON files want authorized Macedonian. Kammarkollegiet.

  4. 4 Notarise a polnomošno before apostille

If a notary in Skopje or Bitola is to act for you, the power of attorney must be attested by Notarius Publicus in Sweden first.

  5. 5 Apostille and tracked return

Notarius Publicus adds the apostille. You get the original (and the translation) back, ready for filing in North Macedonia.

Translation, timing and embassy

Why Macedonian is usually needed

UVMK and MON rarely accept unprocessed Swedish. Authorized Macedonian from a Kammarkollegiet translator is its own step, not Bulgarian. From SEK 1,495 for a standard document. Translation plus apostille from SEK 1,895.

Timeline for UVMK, UJP or cadastre

Apostille usually takes a few business days. Add time for Macedonian and any notarisation. The total depends on:

  • whether the polnomošno must be notarised first
  • whether authorized Macedonian must run in parallel
  • processing at Notarius Publicus
  • the MON queue toward e-uslugi.mon.gov.mk

FAQ

Can the embassy in Stockholm apostille for me?
No. North Macedonia takes apostille via Notarius Publicus in Sweden. The embassy handles passports and consular work, not that stamp for UVMK or cadastre.
Do I need Bulgarian, Serbian or Albanian instead of Macedonian?
No. Those are separate Kammarkollegiet authorizations. UVMK and MON want Macedonian in Cyrillic, even though Albanian is spoken in Tetovo.
Is a visa enough as a document stamp?
No. A visa is entry. UVMK, UJP and cadastre want apostille on the document. We do not sell a North Macedonia visa here.
